Wildcat softball downs DuBois, 14-5

DUBOIS, Pa. – The Central Mountain softball had a full week to reflect on last week’s disappointing 8-7 walk-off loss at Danville and apparently the time off did not hurt. The Lady Wildcats, finishing the regular season on the road, went to DuBois on Tuesday and dropped 14 hits and 14 runs on the home team, returning home with a 14-5 win.

Camdyn Weaver put on quite a show in the win over the Lady Beavers. The junior lefty slugged two home runs, added a single, drove in five runs and pitched a complete-game 7-hitter. She gave up five runs but only one was earned as the CM defense committed an uncharacteristic five errors on the DuBois artificial surface; Weaver struck out four and issued no walks. She finished with four shutout innings to end the game after DuBois had pulled to a 7-5 deficit after the first three innings.

Also contributing to the offensive outburst was Aubrey Eiler with a homerun and single. Elise McKean had a triple and a single and Payton Hull put up two singles. Also in with singles were Cirstyn Watson, Payton Williams, Aubrey Miller, Carleigh Davis and Charlee Probst.

The win moved the Lady Wildcats to 9-4 on the season, DuBois falling to 9-7. Next up for CM is a Thursday trip to Mifflin County (3-12).
