Bucks show improvement but fall to CC, 32-22

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Bucktail made its 2026 debut at Cameron County Friday night and while the Bucks fell by a 32-22 count, the showing was a marked improvement from the 2025 opener that saw the Raiders come out on top, 54-6.

Bucktail showed a more balanced attack than a year ago, led by senior running back Stephen Heiser who carried 18 times for 148 yards. Sophomore quarterback Corbin Pentz added 109 yards through the air, completing 6 of 13 passes for 109 yards. Junior Teagan Stone caught three of those passes for 82 yards, including one touchdown on a 60-yard snare.

Cameron County senior running back Kamden Fragale was the difference in the game, piling up 333 yards on 19 carries, crossing the goal line four times.

Bucktail trailed 20-6 at the half and 32-14 after three. The Bucks cut the margin to 32-22 midway through the final quarter but could get no closer.

Bucktail is scheduled for its home opener next Friday, Sept. 4 hosting Otto-Eldred, the Terrors losing by a 72-29 score to Smethport on Friday. Coach Bruce Ransom’s team will be looking to build on its encouraging start in Emporium.
