FARWELL, Pa. – It took Moniteau a little while to shake off the cobwebs from the three-hour bus trip to Farwell, but the western Pennsylvania team ultimately pulled away from Bucktail for a 31-12 win.
The Bucks scored the game’s first touchdown on a Corbin Pentz to Angelo Tarantella 25-yard pass in period one and opened a 6-0 lead. But the Warriors answered back with an 80-yard kickoff return, took a 7-6 lead and never trailed.
The visitors added a touchdown in the second period for a 14-6 lead at halftime, but the Bucks got a 2-yard TD run from quarterback Pentz early in period three to get within 14-12. The game’s final 17 points went to Moniteau to set the final at 31-12.
The win was the first for Moniteau, now 1-3, the Bucks falling to 0-3 with the loss.
Next up for Bucktail is a trip next Friday to Smethport (3-1). The Hubbers on Friday downed Otto-Eldred (2-2) by a 56-30 score. The O-E Terrors downed Bucktail by 28-20 two weeks ago.
