Bruce Ransom back as Bucktail football coach; co-coaches named for CM volleyball

MILL HALL, Pa. – It’s official: Bruce Ransom is the new Bucktail High School head football coach. With school board approval on Thursday of this week, Ransom is the new Buck head coach, replacing his brother Kevin Ransom who stepped down after two seasons earlier this year.

For Bruce Ransom it’s a return to a position he held for 16 years before relinquishing the post following the 2018 season; he later returned as an assistant coach in recent years and has logged 30 years with the Buck program; he produced Bucktail’s last winning seasons, the Bucks going 6-4 in 2012 and 8-2 in 2011. With pre-season practice heading into its second week on Monday, program numbers are reported their highest in some time.

Thursday’s school board meeting included approvals for a number of coaching positions. Assisting Ransom with Buck football will be assistants David Pentz and Justin Ditty with Rob Getz as a volunteer. Dan Heiser and Ryan Graw will be Buck junior  high co-head coaches with Getz as an assistant.

Thursday’s board hires included a new staff for Central Mountain volleyball. Previous coach Chipp McCann stepped down earlier this year. Erin Winslow and Jenna Schienke were approved as co-head coaches, Jessica Neff as an assistant coach and Courtney Yourchak as junior high coach.

Former Central Mountain wrestler Dylan Caprio is changing positions with the Wildcat wrestling program. He has resigned as the girls’ team coach and will replace Doug Buckwalter as assistant Wildcat coach, Buckwalter stepping down from that post.
