Great season comes to an end: Keystone 10s edged 6-4 at P-A state tourney

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – An otherwise outstanding 2026 season came to an end for the Keystone 10 baseball team at the Pennsylvania Little League 8-10 tournament on a damp and rainy Tuesday. While they battled to the end, the Keystone squad fell by a 6-4 score to St Marys. The second loss in two days at the state event eliminated the Clinton County squad after earlier winning district and sectional titles.

Keystone battled back after falling behind St Marys by a 4-1 count after three innings. Manager Nick Packech’s team plated three runs to pull even at 4-4. Mason Wright started with a walk and scored on an RBI single from Cam McGregor. Jasper Zawisa followed with a single and an RBI groundout from Lucas Barclay scored McGregor to make it a 4-3 game. Grady Packech tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI single, scoring Zawisa.

But St Marys relief pitcher Jude Smith retired the last seven batters he faced and the Elk County team used two walks, a Keystone error and an RBI single from Smith to push across two runs in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead and after Smith recorded a 1-2-3 sixth the Keystone season was over. They returned home with District 12 and Section 3 titles, offering a promising future for Clinton County youth baseball.

Keystone scored its first run in the top of the first, Wright with a one-out double, scoring on a McGregor single.

McGregor led the Keystone offense with his two hits and two RBIs. Wright had a double and singles came from Packech, Zawisa and Brayden Reeder as Keystone was held to a season-low six hits by two St Marys pitchers. McGregor opened on the mound for Keystone and Cooper Robinson finished up.
